Nintendo Wii 2: Specs leaked, Blu-ray support and 1080p – Rumor

As far as rumors go, this one is massive. One site has claimed to have been given detailed specs and info for the upcoming Nintendo Wii 2 console, which has been highly speculated recently.

According to MaxConsole, the biggest feature will be the inclusion of a Blu-ray drive for the Nintendo Wii 2, complete with 1080p support for games and other multimedia content.

The source also claims that the Wii 2 will be available worldwide at the same time, during the 3rd quarter of 2010. Interestingly, they also say that Nintendo will be offering a trade-in deal for users’ old Wii consoles, in order to tempt users into buying the Wii 2.

Smells a bit iffy to us. Before you get all excited/ angry, this is just a ‘rumor’. Discuss below.

  1. Steve says:

HELL I’m excited! This is the main reason why I’m not picking up a Wii… with 1080p graphics and Blu-ray disc format. I’m drooling all over the Wii 2. Now coming out next year??? Hmmm that sounds a little iffy.

  2. At home we have a Wii. It was popular at home for the Wii Sports alone.
    Now, it’s collecting dust.
I somehow managed to make it a bit more useful by adding emulators and ROMS for NES, SNES, Gameboy, and Gameboy Advanced.
A friend of mine bought an XBox 360 Elite. It can take data from FAT-32 Hard Drives connected via USB.
XBox 360 Elite can play DivX, XviD, WMV, AVI from a 500GB Western Digital External Drive. It can play MP3s and WMA. It can display JPG and PNG photos. Probably more than what I mentioned.
So long Wii. My last original Wii game I’m gonna purchase is gonna be New Super Mario Bros. for Wii. After that, I don’t know.
But the XBox 360 Elite really amazes me just for the Media Center features alone! I haven’t even started talking about the realistic graphics of that nice RPG game.
