Verizon’s Droid: Not the ‘iPhone Killer’

Whenever a new phone is announced it is surrounded by so much hype that the phone often struggles to keep up with expectations, there are hopes that this will not be the case with the upcoming Verizon Motorola Droid. As with all new smartphones, they often get compared to the Apple iPhone.

There is no denying that the Verizon Droid is a great handset, but it is not the ‘iPhone Killer’ what everyone is making it out to be, this is according to an article from Tech Crunch. They do have a good reason for saying this, but we have to look back to phones of the past.

Last years BlackBerry Storm was said to be an iPhone Killer, it killed, but only itself. Then we had the launch of the Palm Pre earlier this year, that too was meant to take the fight to the iPhone, but we all know how that turned out. The list goes on, and the Motorola Droid will just be another statistic.

When a phone comes out it does not even try to kill the iPhone, there is good reason for this, one that Tech Crunch could explain better.

when will you guys understand that Android does not need a single handset to kill the iphone, the cumulative effect off all the android devices will eclipse the iphone in the coming year.

The little green robot(s) will just keep coming, and coming, and coming, and coming, and coming.

The Android platform will be tough to beat, especially when it will be available on ALL carriers, all technologies (GSM, CDMA, W-CDMA…), any handsets the manufacturer choses, all different devices. Sky’s the limit really. AND Android is FREE! Now that’s a combination that’s hard too beat.
