Before Black Friday: Walmart’s home install service
By: Peter Chubb | October 27, 2009 | 1 CommentA couple of years back there were three main stores in the consumer electronics market, Best Buy, Circuit City and Walmart. As we know Circuit City is no longer doing business, so that just leaves two main stores. They will both be competing for customers in time for Black Friday, the start of the holiday season.
Best Buy has always had the advantage of offering an install service, which they have been doing through Geek Squad. Walmart are about to offer the install service in time for the holiday season, but they will be playing catch up.
There is no official date yet for the start of this new service, but according to HotHardware, it will be very soon. HotHardware reports that Walmart will be in partnership with N.E.W. Customer Service Companies to offer the install service.
The price will range from $99 to $399; this includes services from WiFi setup to a complete install of a home theater system.
