Nissan Recalls Altima and Maxima: Suspension Strut Issue
By: Peter Chubb | October 26, 2009 | 1 CommentThe auto industry already has so much to deal with without news of yet another recall. The vehicles affected by this latest recall are the 2009 and 2010 Nissan Altima and Maxima because of a problem with their suspension. Some cars could develop an issue with their upper front strut insulators; these could crack as they do not meet specified tolerances.
Nissan is already in the process of contacting Altima and Maxima owners, and letting them know that their vehicles will be repaired at local dealers. When you take your vehicle in, the dealer will replace the strut insulators on both sides of the vehicle.
According to reports from the NHTSA, if one of the struts becomes cracked in a 2009 or 2010 Nissan Altima or Maxima, then it could come away from its mounting casing the car to become unstable. This could even cause the vehicle to crash.
