
100-core Processor: Announced by Tilera
By: Jamie Pert | October 26, 2009 | Leave a CommentMost of todays processor market is dominated by chips manufactured by AMD and Intel, however a new processor has recently been announced by a company called Tilera, this processor is said to have 100 cores.
The processor is called the Tile-GX, and it seems that this processor will be aimed towards the enterprise market for web related functions.
Exact details are scarce at the moment, however the chip is said to draw approximately 55W of power at full load, as for clock speeds etc it is all still a mystery.
Details regarding pricing and availability for the chips are also pretty vague, the processors are expected to sell at between $400-$1000 and should be available in early 2011, as we find out more detailed information we will keep you informed, check out SlashGear for the original article.
