Windows 7 Released Today: Did You Upgrade?

By: Jamie Pert | October 22, 2009 | 1 Comment

With the official release of Microsoft’s Windows 7 today we thought we would see how many of our readers decided to upgrade to the highly anticipated OS release.

Personally I have not yet purchased the OS yet, this is due to the fact I am extremely happy with the Windows 7 Release Candidate which is currently running on my PC, however this RC version does expire early in 2010, when it does expire I will buy Windows 7 without hesitation.

Here are a few questions we would like our readers to answer, Did you buy Windows 7? Did you purchase the OS during its discounted pre-order pricing? What version did you buy? Did you upgrade the OS on your current computer, or did you build a new PC for the new OS? have you installed the OS, if so are you happy with it so far? What are your favorite features? What are your biggest dislikes?

Personally I really like the new and improved taskbar, and very rarely find myself having to use the start-menu as all my frequently used applications are permanently ‘docked’ on the task bar (Windows Explorer, Windows Media Player, Mozilla Firefox, IrfanView, MS Paint, Notepad, Spotify and Google Talk).

As for dislikes there are not many, and I’m sure as Windows 7 develops the OS will vastly improve, my main issues relate to Windows Media Player, I feel that the software doesn’t greatly integrate into Windows 7′s new and improved taskbar, also I don’t really use libraries, therefore when I click Windows Explorer on the task bar I always have to choose a different location (this probably can be changed).

I upgraded from Vista premium to Windows 7 home premium,I purchased it today on sale for 115(CAD) with a free video professor and free installation. so far I am really impressed with the OS it seems to be much quicker than vista. I really like the new task bar it makes navigating through many programs much easier. Also the new aero snap and shake are great features. So far I have not found any negatives, I Sure would recommend it to anyone considering buying.
