HP Fully Backing Windows 7

HP Fully Backing Windows 7

By: Jamie Pert | October 22, 2009 | 2 Comments

Following today’s release of Microsoft’s Windows 7, HP have now announced that they will now offer Windows 7 on their entire range of computer systems.

This announcement seems to suggest that HP are extremely impressed with Microsoft’s successor to Windows Vista, HP have also announced that in an attempt to make the switch from Vista to 7 as smooth as possible they are offering “customers tools and services to assist them in transitioning to Windows 7″.

It seems that HP will also be offering 7 days of discounts, it seems that HP have been working closely with Microsoft to offer these discounts, these discounts will take place from today until October 29th, exactly what discounts they will be offering is not yet known.

    Thanks for the resourceful review!

I got my first look at Windows 7 this week and my initial reaction was “so far, so good.”

“So far” being the key phrase of that statement.

New operating systems are almost always an improvement, and will almost always generate some sort of enthusiasm or buzz within the first couple months.

But until the user sits down and gets a feel for what a new OS is all about (outside the VirtualBox), you’re not going to understand the product’s deficiencies … or its notable improvements.

The reality being you need at least 4-6 months under your belt before you can conclude how successful an OS is for you. And that’s the bottom line, how successful is this system to you and your work environment?
Here are my Top 7 reasons Windows 7 could be a success, and Top 7 reasons it could be a failure:

As mentioned in my other previous posts I have been using Windows 7 since June, and that puts me at pretty much dead on 4 months of happy usage, my computer specification is not at all great , however it still runs great, i have used a wide-range of software and i have not had one constant problem.

The only Windows 7 related problems/annoyances is that there is no driver for my TV card (not a Windows 7 issues, just a manufacturer’s decision not to create a driver), I had to use my onboard sound as my creative sound blaster’s audio sounded hollow and inconsistent (again this seems to be a driver issue and not a Windows 7 issue), finally I had a bit of trouble related to a quicktime plugin with Mozilla Firefox (this is third party software which has no link towards Windows 7).

Boot up time for my AMD Athlon XP3200+ with 1.5GB of RAM is not what I would call slow, and is not at all noticeably different two Vista, and the OS seems a lot more locked-down without the constant need for UAC related problems etc.
