AMD have recently revealed their latests range of low-cost processors, this new series of processors is known as the AMD Athlon II series, these processors seem to have been developed to directly compete with Intel’s Core 2 Duo range.
There currently seem to be 8 new chips which are part of this new series, they range from the AMD Athlon II X2 235e which has 2 cores which run at 2.7GHz, up to the AMD Athlon II X4 605e which has four cores which run at 2.3GHz.
All of AMD’s processors are said to outperform equivalent clock speed Intel Core 2 Duos in terms of media and entertainment benchmarks, not only do they outperform the chips but they also cost less and consume less power, heat build-up is said to be less of an issue too.
AMD in my opinion have struggled to compete with Intel’s Core 2 Duo range so far, so perhaps these new chips could give AMD the push they needed, to find out more details regarding the new processors and their pricing check out SlashGear.
Would you still choose Intel’s Core 2 Duo range over AMD Athlon II series?
