Following the recent launch of Microsoft latest anti-malware solution (Microsoft Security Essentials), Microsoft have now begun to release some information regarding the popularity of the software.
According to an article posted recently on HotHardware Microsoft say that they saw over 1.5 million downloads of the software within its first week, however strangely the company have only reported that the software is currently running on just over 500,000 distinct PC’s, whether this is because the software has not been greatly received is not yet known.
So far over four million malware detections have been found on these machines, the majority of these infections were found on XP machines, however there were also a lot of infections found on Vista machines, Windows 7 only accounted for 16% of the malware found.
