Spring Design has announced the launch of the Alex dual screen e-book, which runs on the ever-popular Google Android OS. The device offers full browser capabilities, but users will be more interested in its dual screen interaction technology.
According to Engadget, Alex helps to do something those other e-book readers cannot, and that is to liven up text with multimedia links. This great feature will certainly help to bring some enjoyment to those reading on the device. It is hoped that this new feature will bring a host of new customers who wish to see how far e-book readers have developed.
The first screen will be sued for reading EPD (electronic paper display), while the second screen is used for dynamic hyperlinked multimedia information. We should not forget that this is the first Google Android-based e-book device to offer full Internet browsing thanks to its built-in Wi-Fi card.
The reader can also access mobile networks, making this the first mobile wireless e-book device. Spring Design is now in talks with major content partners, they plan to launch the Alex e-reader by the end of 2009.
Could this be the rumored Barnes & Noble’s Color E-book Reader?
