BlackBerry Storm 2 and Bold 9700: Australian Release
By: Peter Chubb | October 18, 2009 | Leave a CommentWhenever we discuss cell phone releases we normally cover the U.S., UK and Europe, but what about those in Australia. Well we can tell you that the two most talked about phones in recent weeks will be offered to Australian’s next month as well, we can only be talking about the BlackBerry Storm and Bold 9700 (Bold 2) from RIM.
Both models have been revamped heavily over their predecessors, and both Research In Motion handsets will be running on the new BlackBerry OS 5.0. The BlackBerry Storm2 will be launched on Verizon in the U.S. and Vodafone in the UK, well only for a few weeks, then other UK cell phone carriers can offer the Storm2 to its customers. When the handset launches next month in Australia, it will be made available on Vodafone Australia.
The most important thing that you need to know is, RIM has improved the SureTouch’ technology, which hampered the original Storm. The other major improvement has to be the inclusion of Wi-Fi; these two features were needed if RIM has any hope of making it in the though smartphone market.
The BlackBerry 9700, or Bold 2 has been a rumored handset for some time now but had not been officially announced, well that was until T-Mobile Germany leaked the handset on their website and has said that the new Bold will be available in November.
We expect to see the BlackBerry Bold 2 9700 released in the UK, U.S. and Australia all at the same time. For more information, visit APC Mag
