Verizon BlackBerry Storm 2: Will iPhone owners move?

In the U.S. iPhone owners have said that they would jump ship and move over to Verizon if they offered the Apple iPhone, but with the imminent release of the RIM Storm 2 9550 on Verizon, would this new handset be enough to persuade you to leave your iPhone and AT&T?

Research In Motion had hoped to dethrone the Apple iPhone when the original Storm was launched last year, but its SurePress touchscreen technology, poor performing software and lack of Wi-Fi did not helps its cause. However, the new BlackBerry Storm2 is everything that the original Storm should have been.

We are not saying that the new Storm is without its flaws, RIM should have done away with SurePress and developed a true touchscreen, but that has not happened so we just have to get on. In a recent post, we covered the pros and cons of the BlackBerry Storm2 9550, as well as two videos.

To help the Storm2 to the battle once more to the iPhone, RIM have announced that they will offer the handset to other mobile networks in the UK; this has to be in direct response to Apple ending its exclusivity deal with O2 in the UK. Research In Motion has no plans to do the same thing in the US, but that is because the iPhone is still only available on AT&T.

After a recent experience with Verizon, I wouldn’t go back if they Handed me a Storm 2, and Paid my monthly service! The coverage was SUCKY! oh yeah 3G everywhere, but if i cant make a 2 second call without it dropping, Im not interested… I actually left Verizon for AT&T and wouldn’t switch if i was paid!

Why would people move from the iPhone to the Storm 2 which has vastly less functionality?

What this new BB can offer? Something like AppStore with thousands of applications? the phone that is thinner than iPhone or at least the same? better multi-touch experience? Better video recording capabilities (30fps)? Better eMail client with folders and IMAP? Better iTunes with tons of music and videos? Oh, the Flash Player? It’s gonna be soon on iPhone too.. Better reception in my house? Yes, but I wouldn’t switch only because of this (I’m using call forwarding even though it has lack of functionalities). So…. no, sorry, I stick with iPhone!

This article is stupid. If someone is in love with the igimmick they aren’t going to go to anything else. I have friends that have them and they can’t imagine living without one. Thing is I am living without one and I don’t feel like I’m missing out. The iPhone is an iPod with a whole bunch of gizmos and oh yes you can make a call on it. You just have to understand you can’t make calls just anywhere and tell your friends there is an extremely high possibility you will drop them once or twice during the conversation. My phone works, well. It doesn’t have all those gizmos but I mainly got it to make and receive calls and text messages.

If I just can’t live without gizmos I’ll try to borrow my friend’s. It hasn’t happened yet but who knows. Thing is, you couldn’t pry that thing from her dead body! She would divorce her husband rather than give that thing up. That scares me. But this is why this article is silly. Every one of you feel the same way. I’ll let you keep your iAddiction and pass. Thanks.
