Uncharted 2: PS3 freezing issues

All ps3 Slim issue.

This has got to be the stupidest report ever. How about some proof of an actual problem instead of speculation from hearsay. Also, take the game back to the store? If there really is a problem with the game then other copies could have the same problem. Don’t be stupid. Hold onto the game and wait for a patch which will no doubt come in a matter of days if there really is a legit and broad problem with the game.

sounds like a microsoft stunt to me to try and ruin sales, sony and microsoft do this kind of thing all the time though ms seem to do it far more

Ive played the game through almost twice now, and it has not frozen once. A freezing issue is often related to heat, maybe – if theres any thruth to this – then its because they lack proper ventilataion.

As for taking the game back – bad advice. It will have nothing to do with the disk unless its scratched.

Don’t be silly. Even Microsoft’s Major Nelson has praised this game and is probably playing as I type. This game is fantastic. I own all current consoles, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and PSP and this is probably one of the best games I’ve ever played on any system, if not the best and I’m only half way through and haven’t even tried multiplayer yet!

I’m the most unlucky gamer to ever walk the earth I got RROD and YLOD last week. Just a day or two apart from each other both systems break. PS3-3.00 and 3.01 and 360 update then it breaks. 360 is gonna get fixed even though I don’t play it but I’m really upset over my PS3 no Uncharted 2 yet . I hear that Sony Australia are owning up and fixing PS3′s for free. I’M WAITING SONY AMERICA!!!

i have purchased my copy of the game uncharted among thiefs from the US, i have experienced some issues with my game aswell. It began in Chapter 18 with a glitch, with chapter 23 its permanent.

The Game makes the PS3 freeze, than you hear the doublebeep and your ps3 shutdown. Then, the red led is still blinking without any end in sight, but you can shut you console down by pressing the touch-sensor.

This Issue appears in the game (for example in the room with the shining earth thing in the middle) permanently.
and once by loading this checkpoint.

Is my copy failed ??
Do i need to change it as long as i have a garanty ?

this is no fake by ms fanboy or something.
im from germany and i bought this game from my favorite gamedealer. i have a 100% legit disc from the states.

Not a scam…it’s true. I took mine back twice; and even took my system to a GameStop to ask for guidance. All other games and DVD’s play fine. So i hope a patch will be available soon.

Bought Mine on the 13th here in canada. not so much as a momentary hickup in mine. Works flawlessly, and I have a replacement laser in my ps3 so I am surprised anyone is having problems at all.

It froze one when I paused when I was climing some stair but it never did it again.

ON THE SIDE: Almost every game I have has froze one like RES 5 Quantium of Solace and Little Big Planet have all froze no big.

Well mine boots up fine! Get to chapter 4 “oh look grenades, they’ll come in handy” and CRASH! Can access the in game menu ok and see that it’s autosaving at the sane time.. The disc is clean and I’m running it on a very cool and quiet original ps3 60gb PAL version with an upgraded 320gb harddrive.. I’m thinking it could be a read/write error as it’s saving and loading a new segment at the same time. Regardless of m$ conspiracy crap mentioned earlier I’m a ps3 obsessive and even close to buying another system just to play this… Oh I’m running the special edition uncharted in case that makes any difference!

I bought a genuine uk game on day of release. Ive had a few sound issues using LPCM noticibly the cut sceene between chapters 7~8. I could still hear background noise but no voice over! Also few textures on statues take a few seconds to pop up. My game froze completly after the big battle in chap 23 (I think) after all the creatures and goons were dead. It froze completly a chapter or 2 later aswell. I hope they patch it and sort it out. Is anyone having sound issues using HD LPCM 5.1 or 7.1?

Youralldead, had no probs with music but using 7.1 and only noticed on my second playthrough attempt that some speech by Sully was missing…. Was chapter 3 when Sully complains that he can’t swing across… Well, er, he didn’t! All I was really feeling was the sense of dread as I headed towards my inevitable crash! Still no word from Sony or naughty dog.. Can’t help thinking it mirrors the issue that 3.0 caused with uncharted 1… Hence the 3.1 patch.. Seems logical that the same devs would use the same coding method. Played through the original again with no probs now but it crashed with 3.0 firmware… Have to wait and see I guess… Might have to stop being a preorder nut! It does YLOD some systems so everyone be careful! I was a victim of the GTA4 YLOD too and didn’t know about it… Sony therefore charged me 150 without mentioning the issue was known. All this just for a backwards compatible ps3! 750 quid on a system I can’t play a game on for fear it’ll wipe it out! Like Russian roulette I tell thee!

my copy froze at chapter 12, then again at chapter 19, then again while in the middle of chapter 22, and it froze there a few times until i just gave up. ND needs to release a patch, and now!

hello,i am from germany and freeze almost everytime…change the game 3 times,same shit…change from 60 gb – 500 gb…. freeze again… i know there is a problem with the game need a patch…. i know also that some people have not 1 freeze or 1 freeze…but my ps3 have no mistake or break… i think to buy me a slim,but in german site says freeze also with slim…. i need a patch… or what else is the problem??? ps: i have try a lot of thinks,without medienserver…. but i write to my buddies they play uncharted 2 and have 60 gb , no one have freeze ,why me???????????????????????

Hello, I am from NYC, and I have gone 78% of the game. I first noticed when I tried to close the game from my PS3, and it froze. Next time when I loaded my save game, the load screen hangs and the music tune just plays the same few notes over and over. I was however able to load the beginning of the chapter, but I am not sure if the game will just freeze again upon loading when im done 78%. It’s definitely an issue that Naughty Dog has to fix. No MS fanboi conspiracy here.
Has anyone had any luck?

I have never had any problems with my ps3 until I started playing Uncharted 2. I never really noticed any other glitches with this game, however when I reached Chapter 18 I was not able to get throught the first cut scene without the game freezing. If you know anything that’ll help please let me know! Thanks. ^_^

Mine just started to work again all of a sudden yesterday. WTF is going on here? I couldn’t get past the loading screen all weekend no matter how many times i tried and how much data i deleted! I hope Naughty Dog has an official statement for this cause.

Ive played through 4 complete times now. Not had any more freezing issues but still get the audio black outs like Graig mentioned. It happens a fair bit on the cut scenes. You might for example hear Elena speak and background noise but drakes bit will be missed out. Ive noticed that all issues show up more if you “jump” to a chapter or resume a game. Im wondering if it has anything to do with the way the game pre loads things so there are no loading times between scenes/chapters. Its almost like its trying to load ahead and process data at the same time and struggling. If your playing through normally it has time to load ahead and pre cache etc, but if you rush it, it struggles. Great game though, love it, 100% complete with all 101 treasures. Hopefully Naughty dog will sort a patch real soon to sort out all these annoying little bugs.

Man this is annoying, it’s happened to me… It freezes in the exact same spot, every time, whether its my file, or my gf’s file, no matter the circumstance or difficulty. Also, I rented out another copy to test if it was the game, and it still froze in the exact same spot. Both myself and my gf finished the game with not a single problem, and then this happened when we tried to replay it. Soooooo Gay! Also, we don’t have our ps3 connected to the net, so a patch won’t help!

My PAL 60gb launch ps3, upgraded to 320gb, just died yesterday while playing Uncharted 2. The fan was louder than usually everytime I played UC2. I got YLOD. Seems I´m not the only one with old ps3 broken with that game.

Patched recently, seems to have sorted a lot of problems BUT my game still crashes after the big battle on chapter 24.

hello. I am from Brazil and have realy big problem. I bought the game in a trip to USA last week. When I returned to brazil… surprise! The game doesn’t work -.- It updates to 1.01, and when i start it, the game goes to the loading screen with the dagger spinnig and nothing else happens. I think i’ve tried everything to make it work! cleaned the disc, updated the ps3 firmware, cleaned some space in the hard disc, searched on the internet about my problem, tried and tried but nothing. What makes me realy mad is that I can’t go back to new york and exchange the game for a new one! I hope that Naughty Dog or sony fix this problem, because several people are having the same problem as mine. Otherwise I’ve wasted 60$ on a useless blue ray disc (

You’re absolutely right, it’s just plain stupidity to think the problem is the disk, the problem is the firmware of the ps3 or the game data of the game, a patch or FW update is needed, return the game to the store… yeah right…

i got a copy of it and got to chapter 5, then i got to near there end of urban warfare and then the screen goes all yellow and i cant go anywaere else and now every time i try load the game data it just stays at the load screen and doesnt move

after the latest update around end of Nov 09, the issue is at chapter 23 for me. There is supposed to be a door to open and go down, but the door is not there any more. Chapter 23 was fine before this new update.

I have played online a lot (I got up to level 41), and one night, after a few games that went fine, it froze right before displaying the teams (in deathmatch). I had to turn of the PS3 manually (the switch on the back). I didn’t restart it cuz I had to get some sleep.

The next day, I watched movies through a plugged hard disk, DVD’s etc, no problem.

A few days later, I start a multiplayer deathmatch on Uncharted 2, everything goes fine until the map starts to load, right before that. The loader freezes, I can’t even see the teams, the music keeps playing until the end of the song, then there’s no more music.
I restart it manually, try playing an online deathmatch again: exact same problem. PLEASE LET THERE BE A SYSTEM / GAME UPDATE!!!

Is there now other way to fix the game, without waiting on updates to the disc on Uncharted 2? I’m really pissed of because I can just play in 3-4 min.

okay so im at the cat and mouse level and i am at a part where you are supposed to jump down the snow ledges, but there are no snow ledges….ive looked all over the internet about how to beat the part and it says only to jump down the snow ledges….i tried to quit the game and it shutoff my system…i exchanged it and the same problem is still happening
please help

never has uncharted 2 crashed on me and i have completed it on crushing mode aswell,some of these comments may be true,or like lots of comments say probably made up by microsoft employees,what a game! truly lived up to what people, reviewers,and jounalists alike have said,most impressed,its now on my all time list.cheers naughty dog!

I have the 80gb PS3, and every time I load a chapter it'll skip. This reminds me of something similar that happened to me while playing star ocean on the ps2, it seems the older version of the ps3 will cause the game to skip every time I start on the second disk, even though on the first disk it will freeze on a certain part but after intense cleaning and using toothpaste on the back of the disk it played fine, but once i popped in the second disk it will always freeze once I start a battle, and using toothpaste didn't work. The slim ps2 I reads the star ocean game play better than the fat one, and I think this maybe true for Uncharted 2 maybe playing the game on the fat ps3 will cause it to skip, but on the slim one it doesn't I may go out and purchase the slim ps3 just to see what happens , and also I'm not a microsoft fan boy trying to downplay the ps3 I love both consoles.
