Windows 7 Upgrade: Making it easier

Windows 7 is due out next week, and this new operating system will hopefully turn the fortunes of Microsoft. Going on a number of our recent posts, the early signs of Windows 7 certainly look good; the new OS is faster and runs much smoother than its predecessor, Vista.

There are those who would like to jump the Vista ship that they have been sailing in choppy waters for a few years now and move over to the calm waters of Windows 7, but consumers are both scared and confused about upgrading to the latest OS.

The Wall Street Journal hopes to try to make that process as easy and painless as possible. They admit that upgrading your computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 is scary, as you have to wipe out your hard disk. Just make certain that you back up all your data that you wish to keep.

For those upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, then life is much easier. This means that you will not have to clear out your hard drive. This will not do for me though; I want to make certain that I remove all traces of Vista. I hate the idea of a small Vista file lurking in the background waiting to make a nuisance of itself.
