Sprint HTC Hero or Palm Pre?

We all know that when a new smartphone comes out, it will always be compared to the Apple iPhone. This is often unfair, as for some reason will take a special handset to beat it and the latest bunch on offer do not look like they will threaten the iPhone.
The latest handset to try to make a name for itself in the smartphone market is the HTC Hero; The Examiner thought that the best phone to compare the Hero to would be the Palm Pre. We know that the Pre is getting on a bit now, but the Pre was their main smartphone device until the HTC hero came along.
After a few days use, The Examiner improved its rating of the Hero, thanks to the use of the HandBrake converter, this allowed the MP4 video files to run smoother. There are a number of things that they miss about their old Pre, one of those is its physical keyboard.
There is another drawback to the HTC Hero (Read Specs), and that is its 65,000 colors, compare that to the Pre’s 16,000,000 colors. This is a huge difference, one that you can notice when watching videos on the handset.
The Examiner asks their readers which they think is the best out of the two, and that is certainly a tough question. Let us know your thoughts.

palm pre all the way, the hero will lag up in a couple months of use, my pre is still amazing!!!
HTC Hero all the way. I had the Pre for the last few months and I think the Hero blows it away in terms of form and function. The Pre’s keyboard is too small (and I do not have big hands….can’t say the same for my feet :>) and uncomfortable to use. The Hero has one of the best on-screen keyboards and would beat the iphone but the spacebar on the Hero is a little small.
The Pre’s build quality is horrible and it is extremely buggy. To this day it is buggy with its networking with Exchange server support. The Hero has worked perfectly out of the box and gives me what I need for a email, contacts and calendar device. The Pre does not allow invites on Exchange calendar items, where the Hero does. The applications on android blow the applications away on the Pre WebOS.
I give the WebOS a couple of years before it is either bought by another company or simply goes away. Having so many platforms for developers and manufacturers is not a ideal situation. It seems that Android is being adopted by more manufacturers where as WebOS is just Palm.
You are also limited by space on the Pre to 8GB where the Hero has the micro SD card that supports up to 32GB. However, i do give the nod to the Pre for their multimedia features. The Hero’s music player is very nice but the solution for videos is horrible. Having to go into the Photos Album application to view your videos (without titles) is not a feasible solution. The Pre does a better job but does not compare to the iPhone. The Pre has a separate app for videos but they are listed in one view (opposed to the iphone that categorizes by show listing).
Just my 2 cents.
