Palm and O2 CEO’s talk Pre
By: Daniel Chubb | October 16, 2009 | Leave a CommentIn an interview posted on the BBC News website, Matthew Key, head of 02 across Europe and Jon Rubinstein, Palm’s CEO talked about the exclusive contract 02 has sealed for the Palm Pre.
One of the key points in the interview was regarding how well 02’s network would cope with demand as it has already witnessed problems with the flood of data from the iPhone and mobile broadband. But Matthew responded that they had got to the key cause and that they hoped a fix would be arriving very soon.
When Matthew was asked whether getting the exclusive contract for the Palm Pre was a consolation prize after losing the exclusive contract the Apple iPhone he strongly denied this and said “we fundamentally think it’s a great device”. And when challenged with the statement that it will never sell as many as the iPhone, he said it was down to the customer, and willed them to come along to an 02 store and try it out and see whether they like it.
