New iMac: Was Blu-ray an option you wanted?
By: Peter Chubb | October 16, 2009 | 1 CommentWe know that Apple are working on a new iMac, it was thought that the new all-in-one desktop would come with a Blu-ray player option. However, if the latest rumors are to be believed, then this upgrade will not make it to the upcoming iMac.
Electricpig have been doing some digging and according to Apple Insider, Apple has been concentrating more on its latest mobile chip than the Blu-ray option for its upcoming iMac lineup. This is certain to anger those who were expecting the Blu-ray upgrade.
There had been rumors that Apple were still going ahead with the idea of putting a Blu-ray in the iMac, but changed its mind just as they went into production in September. Apple have not thought this through, this would have been a great addition for the iMac, especially through the holiday season.
Blu-ray would have been an add-on option; one that we believe would be very expensive, but just think how nice a Blu-ray movie would look on that sexy screen.
