Microsoft Sidekick Data Loss: Crucial need for phone backups

We have an interesting article for you to read now, which debates whether or not customers should continue to trust cloud services to store their data. This is obviously in relation to the T-Mobile Sidekick data fiasco where customers had their entire services down for more than 2 weeks, with data only starting to be recovered this week.

The article comes from Computer World, who have listed four lessons for customers to read, which will ensure that their data is never ‘lost’ in the same way again.

The first one advises customers to back-up data independently, on either a laptop, thumb drive or desktop. Another point and perhaps the most important, states that customers should find out how their mobile device stores data clearly.

Has this incident really put a strain on cloud-based services? Read the article in full above and let us know your thoughts on it.
