When we go back over a few of our recent articles, there seems to be a pattern forming. That pattern would be Data Loss, which we will now call Data Loss Week. The two biggest data loss cases were the T-Mobile Sidekick and Snow Leopard issues.
Although both cases had nothing to do with what the user had done we have to all learn from this, and that is backup. We have to always make sure if there is something of value that you wish to keep, then make certain that you back it up, that way you will not take it so bad when such issues arise.
One of our writers, Alan, has been covering the story of the T-Mobile Sidekick data loss issue from the start. For all the latest on this issue, then click here. One of the most recent pieces of news is that T-Mobile has assured its users that all data has now been recovered.
Snow Leopard was another issue, that bug caused a huge data loss issue; this problem only affected users with certain configurations. Apple had known about the bug for months, but they have only recently admitted the fact. To get further news on this issue, visit CurrentMom

Thanks for linking to the CurrentMom post on data loss! The more of us calling attention to the importance of backing up data, the better.
I started work for T-Mobile last year and it soon becamse apparent to me that they had massive holes in their IT security - enough to drive a coach and horses through. They had no IT Security Manager in place or anybody seemingly in control. I offered to tell them how people could steal their confidentail data, but they completely ignored me. Guess you reap what you sow, eh?
