BlackBerry Storm2 9550 Review: Pros and Cons
By: Peter Chubb | October 16, 2009 | 5 CommentsWhen RIM launched the original BlackBerry Strom last year, it was their first handset to feature a touchscreen, well a clicking touchscreen that used SurePress technology. The Storm was hyped to take the fight to the Apple iPhone, but that screen and poor performing software hampered its effort. Now the Storm2 9550 will hopefully be what the original Storm was meant to be.
IntoMobile have their hands on one of these new BlackBerry handsets, which many assumed would be called the BlackBerry Storm2, but some clever person at Research In Motion thought they would forget about the space. IntoMobile have taken spent some time with the new handset and have weighed up the pros and cons, which will we will get too soon.
We know that the BlackBerry Storm2 will be going to Verizon in the U.S. and Vodafone in the UK, well only for a few weeks. We recently learned that RIM has offered the phone to other UK mobile networks, such as O2 and Orange. Maybe this has something to do with Apple ending its iPhone exclusive deal with O2 in the UK.
IntoMobile reports that the pros for the BlackBerry Storm2 are the user interface is much-improved, more accurate SurePress, and finally the handset now has Wi-fi. Now for the cons, there is still that SurePress technology to get used to as well as a decoding issue with some videos.
