BlackBerry 9700, Onyx and Bold 2: The confusion

When people read about news about the BlackBerry 9700, two other names are often quoted, the Bold 2 and the Onyx. This has caused much confusion, which we will now help to explain as people have been looking for the Onyx handset but it does not exist.

The BlackBerry Onyx was a codename for a new handset from Research In Motion, that phone will be released shortly and will be called the BlackBerry 9700. As we know BlackBerry handsets always have another name, the BlackBerry Storm2 is the 9550, which will be released on October 26. Therefore, we can tell you that the BlackBerry 9700 is the Bold 2.

There had been so much speculation over the new BlackBerry 9700, we had heard rumors that it would be the new Bold 2, but we did not know for sure. That was until yesterday, when T-mobile.de made it official that the Bold 2 was coming in November.

We know that the new handset comes with Wi-Fi as well better performance and a more rounded look, not as much as a brick. We do hope that we helped to clear any confusion.
