Verizon iPhone is the BlackBerry Storm 2 (9550)

With the recent news of Apple ending the iPhone exclusivity deal with O2 in the UK; those in the U.S. now wait for the news of the Verizon iPhone. The preferred network carrier does not seem to be in any rush for the Apple smartphone now; as they believe that the upcoming BlackBerry Storm 2 (9550) is its iPhone equivalent.

RIM and Verizon hope that this second-generation Storm will give them a second stab at dethroning the Apple iPhone. We recently reported that Vodafone UK have announced that the release date for their BlackBerry Storm 2 will be on October 26, we still await a date from Verizon.

We also reported that Vodafone would only enjoy the exclusive deal with the Storm 2 for a few weeks, then RIM will allow other UK networks, such as Orange and O2 to offer the 9550 to its customers. Speaking of O2, they previously had the exclusive rights to sell the iPhone in the UK, but they have since come to an end; it is for that reason why RIM was forced into allowing other networks to sell the Strom 2.

RIM had hoped that the original BlackBerry Storm would take the fight to the Apple iPhone, buts its lack of Wi-Fi connectivity and a dodgy touch-screen hampered its chances. The BlackBerry Storm 2 not only has WiFi, but also has a much-improved touchscreen. For more details on the BlackBerry Strom 2, visit Times Online.

In the past I have had both iPhones and Blackberry series and for me Blackberry wins heads down.

The total touch screen on the iPhone is clumsy when calling many of the UK service providers and press 2 for this and press 3 for that, whereas the blackberry keyboard is easy to click.
