RIM and T-Mobile had hoped to keep the release of the BlackBerry 9700 a secret, but it seems that everyone and their dog knew about the upcoming release of the Bold 2. We now have conformation that the 9700 is due for release on T-Mobile Germany in November, as they now have the device up on their website.
With the official announcement from T-Mobile.de, we now expect T-Mobile in other countries to follow suit. T-Mobile was not expected to announce the new Bold 2 until during an event, but this was leaked. Even Walt Mossberg slipped up during the embargo of the BlackBerry Bold 2.
Engadget still struggle to understand what we should call the handset, we know that it’s codename was Onyx and that its official number is 9700, but as it is a newer version of the Bold, we have now started to call it the BlackBerry Bold 2.
Unlike the original Bold, the 9700 now comes with Wi-Fi, you will also notice that RIM have now gone for a more curved design, which means that it will no longer try to cut your legs while in your pants pocket.

This is all wrong… The first Bold has a wifi radio. Second, the first Bold is the most round device ever released from RIM. Please do a little home work next time. Last, it is just the “Bold”. Every Blackberry line follows a designation, Bold Series, Curve Series, and Storm Series. There are 3 generations of Curve, 2 of Bold, and 2 of Storm.
