SanDisk X4 NAND SDHC Memory Cards: Capacity Limit

Following on from our previous article regarding SanDisk’s World’s first X4 NAND based memory cards, there are now being questions asked regarding the capacity limits of the cards.

As stated previously current X4 NAND memory cards which are shipping are only 8GB and 16GB capacities, however the potential capacity for these cards is huge.

Currently due to the fact that the X4 technology allows twice as many bits per storage cell than MLC NAND memory chips, it is thought that we should at least see a maxmum capacity of at least double of the highest capacity MLC NAND based memory cards.

If you check out HotHardware’s article you can find out more, also in this article you can see information from SanDisk’s Adavanced Development Efforts.
