Mozilla Firefox 3.6 with Accelerometer Support: Watch Video

When it comes to the war with web browsers, things have got a little boring, as they all do the same job but at different speeds. Mozilla are about to spice things up a little with its upcoming Firefox 3.6, as it will feature Accelerometer Support. You can see this in action on the video below.

Those who have accelerometers in their hardware will benefit from this cool new feature, but not sure why anyone with a notebook or netbook would want to turn their devices on its side. The process is only made possible thanks to a new device API.

Hacks.mozilla.org explains that the API can maintain the vertical orientation of a webpage relative to the ground, no matter what your machine is doing. Engadget says that this is certainly a cherry on top for those who will have a Windows 7 multitouch tablet.

The API was originally meant for use on mobile platforms, so came as a shock when we learned that it has made it on to Firefox 3.6. Let us know if you think that this is a good feature to the browser.
