Blackra1n: iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak live for Mac

We are hearing a lot of rumors confirming that George Hotz’s blackra1n (iPhone/iPod 3.1.2 jailbreak) application for Mac is now live, the main reason to believe this rumor is because George Hotz’s has posted a few Tweets on his Twitter account lately regarding the software.

Approximately 13 hours ago he Tweeted “#blackra1n for mac in 2…tweet with #blackra1n…see blackra1n.com”, he soon followed this up by posting “#blackra1n for mac is live!!!!!!!!! #blackra1n #blackra1n #blackra1n”, and then Tweeted “#blackra1n success reports?”, finally he followed this up by saying “looks like it works…i’m out…enjoy #blackra1n”, you can see his Twitter here.

Originally George Hotz wrote a Windows version of the application, however he was unsure whether he would be able to write a Mac version of the application, however it now seems that he has overcame his difficulties, you can download the applications here.

    Blackra1n for Windows or Mac DOES NOT WORK for iPhone 3G 8GB running 3.1.2. I’ve tried 50 times, different ways, to no avail – iPhone will always hang on factory DFU mode screen while Blackra1n also hangs at the same time.

    Seeing that this particular iPhone is one of the most common, this is a huge problem and I’m surprised no one is talking about it yet. Someone please prove me wrong – any fixes?

    I’m running an Imac G5 PPC with leopard and I can’t get this to work for my 16 gig 3g. I’m about to give up. Maybe it’s not meant for me to JB! The application shows up after being downloaded with a \ over the black raindrop. I also get a prompt saying this application can run on this architecture. Then why say it’s the MAC version?

    Installs on 3gs 32gb from OSX but winterboard doesn’t work

    So far, so good. Works flawlessly on iTouch 3.1.2 (2G).

    ive got an ipod touch 16g with 3.1.2 and i got cydia. After i got some themes i went on winterboard and it didnt work WTF!

    I hand same problem tried 50+ times no joy, I went into task manager and turned of every service I knew was not important , especially ituneshelper and ipod. Do not turn off applemobile. Also I installed a QTCF.dll in windows/system32/

    I turned off the phone and ran blackra1n from c:\ then I held the power and home to put the phone in restore mode, when the apple came up I let go off the power and held the home until I saw the picture. The regular apple stuff came up first but I held the button until I saw the picture. I am new at this so I am not sure which step worked, I hope it helps.

    I have a 16g 3GS that’s 2 days old and it’s my 5th iPhone. I’ve jailbroken 3 of them. But for the life of me, I cannot get this phone to jailbreak. I have the exact same symptoms that J03 is/was saying he had. I am running a 2.66 Dually Intel w/ 3 gig of ram with the latest software EXCEPT for Snow. I’ve tried a million times but it just doesn’t do it.

    This latest model, just the way it is “stock” is very lovely and quick so I’m probably not going to keep wasting my time trying to jailbreak it with something that is alreay smooth and lovely.
