Verizon Android Phone with WiFi Tethering: Unlike AT&T iPhone

Last week was great for a number of reasons, one of those was because of the announcement that Google and Verizon were going ahead on a deal for the carrier to start to offer Android handsets to its customers. This is a big deal for Verizon, one that shows that they are not too worried about not having the iPhone any time soon.

Verizon Wireless is known for having the best network, which most of its customers would agree. They will soon have a smile on their face, when one of the three new Android phones coming to Verizon will have WiFi Tethering. Now I do not know about you, but that will certainly not go down well with AT&T iPhone customers.

The new Apple iPhone 3GS supports Internet Tethering, but it is AT&T that is dragging its heels. There are some experts saying that we will have to wait at least another year before AT&T will offer WiFi Tethering support.

Engadget knows that carriers do not support the idea of such features, but as it is an open development, they have to accept it. Engadget also wonders if Verizon will just sit back and let the new WiFi Tethering Android handset market itself, or just go ahead and throw its weight behind the marketing campaign.
