T-Mobile Sidekick Outage: Data could be recovered – Microsoft

More on the T-Mobile / Microsoft Sidekick data fiasco now, as Microsoft have made another statement on the issue, this time saying that they might be able to recover some of the lost data which was previously thought to be ‘gone forever’.

As reported from Computer World, it seems as if Microsoft are now retracting their previous statement in which they and T-Mobile issued, stating that lost data was ‘almost certainly’ gone forever.

However according to CW, a Microsoft spokesman has stated: “Recent efforts indicate the prospects of recovering some lost content may now be possible,”

Just earlier on, we informed you that T-Mobile were offering $100 to customers affected by the data loss, on top of credit that had already been made to customer’s accounts.

With continued reports of pending lawsuits against T-Mobile / Microsoft, is this Microsoft’s first attempt to diffuse the legion of angry customers?

Looks like they have not been testing their software and hardware before deployment.
They should have tested it with a simulator by creating a virtual lab with all cloud hardware and servers.
If they had done this, they would have found the issue very quickly before going public with it.
