There have been a number of conflicting reports concerning the release of the RIM BlackBerry Bold 2 on T-Mobile and AT&T. Most recently we discussed that T-Mobile were to hold an announcement on October 21, with rumors that the BlackBerry 9700 will be released on November 11.
T-Mobile has already started to send out invites to corporate customers, the event will announce the arrival of a new device, many believe that this is the Bold 2 from Research In Motion. T-Mobile are keeping its cards close to its chest, just saying that the upcoming handset to be revealed at the event will be its “latest in Wi-Fi Calling-enabled BlackBerry devices.”
Brighthand reports that AT&T are also expected to release its version of the BlackBerry Bold 9700, almost at the same time. All details of a release and pricing are vague at this point, but we can expect them to be round about the same price.
Looking at the overview of the BlackBerry Bold 2, we know that it had the code name Onyx; there will be a lot in common with its predecessor, such as its design. The rear of the phone has a leather finish and the screen resolution has been increased from 480 by 320 to 480 by 360.
The new version is to also make use of an optical trackpad, which means that there will not be a trackball as on the previous model. RIM has been doing this with all of its latest handsets.
