FCC: Google Voice, is it a phone service?
By: Alan Ng | October 12, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been reported that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is undergoing an investigation to see just how exactly the new Google Voice application works.
As reported from USAToday, there is slight confusion on whether the new service is like an online search or similar to Google Maps or if it is a standalone voice program.
According to Google, the free service will allow consumers to use one number for home, office and cell. This number will be issued by Google and the service also transcribes voice mail and offers unlimited free texting for customers.
It is understood that the FCC are asking Google how the process of making calls works. We’ll keep you updated on this. More over at USA Today.
