Acer Aspire Laptop Recall

Buzz This

According to a recent article on SlipperyBrick it seems that Acer are recalling some of their Acer Aspire models, this is due to a problem related to over heating, whether this recall is for customer safety or to prevent further damage to the laptop is currently unclear.

Models which are being recalled are the Acer Aspire AS3410, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG which were manufactured before September 15th 2009, it is thought that the problem is due a microphone cable which can overheat if “extreme pressure is applied”.

If you think that your Aspire may have this issue I recommend checking out Acer’s Support pages, you can find out more on SlipperyBrick.

Have you had your Acer Aspire recalled due to this problem?

Acer Aspire model 4720-4538 sold by BestBuy Jan 2009 shut down numerous times with all work in progress lost. Took to Geeks at BestBuy 5 times and no help received. Called Acer at 866-695-2237. Call cancelled three times after 10-22 minutes of input by recorded voice. Retained private Geek who observed/determined shutdown while online caused by heat and smoke in bottom upper right corner of laptop.

    Reporting to USCPSC…RJR

  3. Bob Reid says:

Acer Aspire problem has caused me in excess of $900 to Geeks; 40-50 hours lost time (my billable rate is $320/hr.) and lack of comfort of an Acer product or dealing with BestBuy….

  4. Bob Reid says:

Cost to me of Acer coverup is $900+ out of pocket and 40-50 hours at $320/hr my billable time plus the disgust dealing with Acer and BestBuy.
