HTC Hero: Does the smartphone live up to hype

HTC Hero: Does the smartphone live up to hype

The HTC hero is coming to Sprint Nextel and will be the carriers very first Google Android based Smartphone. A number of questions have been asked about the handset, the most popular being if the HTC Hero actually lives up to all the hype that has surrounded it.

Information Week has decided to look more into this, and try to answer that question. The first Hero was launched on the T-Mobile network and had that very ugly looking chin design; Sprint must have not liked this design feature and have gone for a more traditional look.

The display is like most of the touchscreen phones now, as it takes up most of the face. However, we still have six buttons staring at us, one of which is a trackball for navigating. HTC has added its Sense UI on top of the more than capable Android, and this can often be a pain, but will not take long to get used too.

A year ago, Sprint was on the verge of disappearing off the radar, but the launch of the Palm Pre earlier this year has started a comeback. Sprint now has a strong lineup, one that is about to get even better once the Moment is launched. For an in-depth review of the Sprint HTC Touch, visit Information Week.
