Amazon’s Kindle DX and best 4 other ebook readers
By: Peter Chubb | October 11, 2009 | 1 CommentThe recent news that Amazon’s Kindle DX eBook reader was coming to the UK certainly got a few people exited, but what other choices do the residents in the UK have. There are a few choices but is often difficult what the perfect one for you will be as they all have their good and bad points.
Times Online have done a study to find the best for eBook readers. If you want the best all-round reader, then it has to be the Amazon Kindle. This will cost £175 when released on October 19. The Kindle DX comes with a 6-inch display, it has the best screen and is the easiest to use.
The best eBook for beginners is the Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-600, which costs £250. This is the first E Ink reader with a touchscreen and has an all-metal finish. Fonts are attractive and being able to resize images is a great touch. The downside to the Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-600 is that you are unable to download books directly to the reader.
The Cool-er has to be the best in the looks department that is until you hold it. The eBook reader has a cheap plastic feel to it; add to that its small button and things certainly go downhill from there. It is a shame because look wise, it had so much potential.
The best for an instant library has to be the Elonex eReader; this device comes pre-loaded with a 100 eBooks by Austen, Dickens and Shakespeare. What better way to start your collection of by three of the best writers. For full reviews of each eBook reader, visit Times Online
