Twitter Suffers Outage before Google, Microsoft Deal

Just as Twitter was about to get involved in negotiations over it’s a licensing deal with Google or Microsoft, the Micro-blogging service suffered an outage. This is just the latest in a long line of up-and-downs for Twitter, one that could not have come at a worse time.

On Thursday, Twitter users could not post any Tweets on their own streams, updates were possible from their followers, but these were very slow. Twitter admitted on the Wednesday to what they say was an “unplanned site outage”, it took until 2 p.m. ET Thursday for the company to explain what they meant by that.

PC World explains that when TechCrunch begun to speculate that Twitter was a victim of a DDOS attack, the Micro-blogging service released a statement stating, “The problems this morning were caused by a bug triggered by an edge case in one of the core services that powers Twitter.”

All Things Digital reported that things started to look up for Twitter, as talks between Google and Microsoft were under way. Either Google or Microsoft will be part of a multimillion deal to integrate Twitter in to either search engine.

Twitter were meeting with Google and Microsoft separately, the question is would users actually benefit from a Twitter partnership with one of these search engines?
