Nvidia stops developing chipsets for Intel CPUs
By: Peter Chubb | October 9, 2009 | Leave a CommentIn what seems like a lengthy saga, Nvidia and Intel have finally fallen out, it looks as though Nvidia will stop developing chipsets for Intel CPUs. This is a big blow for Intel, but one that has been coming for some time now. So why is this?
The Inquirer learned via.Digitimes that Nvida explained that their decision was based on the ongoing battle over the licensing litigation with the CPU giant. Nvidia also said in an official statement that Intel was making claims that were improper to its customers and the market.
According to these reports, Intel sales staff said that Nvidia is not licensed to the latest DMI bus, Nvidia said that this is unfair. It is reported that the ban that Nvidia has imposed on Intel will last until the two companies meet in court to settle the matter, which will take place next year.
You would have thought that Nvidia would start to move closer towards AMD, but they are not in any rush to butter them up, as development of AMD chipsets have also been halted.
