Hands-on Review: Corsair P64 64GB SSD
By: Jamie Pert | October 9, 2009 | Leave a CommentSlashGear have recently been putting Corsair’s P64 64GB SSD’s through their paces, during these tests they used two of the P64′s configured for RAID 0 using Corsair’s P64-RAID-PK1 dual-drive kit.
Within Corsair’s P64′s are mainly Samsung components, to gain the 64GB capacity there are eight Samsung K9HCGZ8U5M SCK0 DRAM flash chips, controlling these chips is a Samsung S3C29RBB01-YK40 controller.
During the tests SlashGear compared the drives performance against a pair of Intel X25-M 80GB SSD’s, the P64′s performed well, however they were outperformed by the X25-M’s in every single benchmark test.
One thing in Corsair’s favor is the fact that the drIves are a lot cheaper, currently the X25-M 80GB SSD’s are retailing at $329.99, whereas the P64′s have a much more reasonable $199.99 retail price, despite the fact there is 16GB capacity difference I know which model I would choose, check out SlashGear’s article for more details on the review.
