Verizon-iPhone: IDC analysts give opinion
By: Alan Ng | October 8, 2009 | 5 CommentsFollowing on from the news earlier this week about Verizon and Google’s plans to bring more Android handsets to Verizon Wireless, we are now hearing from analysts that a deal to bring the Apple iPhone to Verizon is ‘unlikely’ to happen.
As reported from ComputerWorld, it is no secret that many AT&T iPhone users have grown frustrated with the service they are getting, but we are still no closer to hearing if Apple are ready to jump to other carriers in the U.S.
Scott Ellison, an IDC analyst thinks that AT&T have been ”completely unprepared” with the iPhone. As a result of this, he believes that Verizon will raise their data rates in a move which will highlight AT&T’s difficulties further.
Heres the interesting bit though, three IDC analysts have stated that Verizon ”probably” won’t get an iPhone before they convert to an LTE network in two years.
This latest move with Google is clear indication that Verizon are willing to rely on Android phones to carry the network forward, until they upgrade their speeds which could accomodate the iPhone better.
