Verizon iPhone: How will it differ from AT&T?

A day does not go by when something is asked about a possible Verizon iPhone, this just show’s how popular it would be if Apple did end the exclusivity with AT&T one the Smartphone. One of the latest questions being asked is, “What would a Verizon iPhone be like?” That is certainly a good question; would a Verizon iPhone actually be any different to an AT&T version?

The iPhone Blog raised the question, as it is no secret that most of the US wishes for Verizon to get the iPhone. The website wonders what a Verizon iPhone would be like; the quickest answer that we could come up with is better reception for call and 3G coverage as well as better customer services.

Developer Marco Arment has decided to try to answer the question and it seems that everything will not be sweet if Verizon were to get their hands on the iPhone. He states that Verizon would demand “30-50% commission on all on-device App Store sales.” It is also possible that the App Store would need to be replaced with a Verizon version.

Arment says it is for these reasons that we have yet to see a Verizon iPhone; it makes you wonder if we will ever see it happen. Arment reckons that Apple did have a meeting with Verizon, and it did not go that well.

So does Verizon get that big a cut from R.I.M.(owner of blackberry) for there app center? I have the blackberry storm for verizon and I always get the apps for it from R.I.M.

I have been patiently waiting for the iPhone and I cannot wait any longer. When my current contract with Verizon runs out, I will dump Verizon, and my “Slackberry” Storm for the iPhone. This is getting rediculous. The Storm is such a poor substitute for the iPhone. It doesn’t even come close. I had side-by-challeges with my iPhone buddies looking up driving directions, or movie showtimes, or weather reports. The Storm is incredibly slow, while the iPhone blazes through every application in nano seconds. My “Flakberry” reminds me of when I first got online and had to wait eons for anything to load.

Verizon, you are going to lose customers if you don’t make a deal with Apple.

Verizon is greedy & unreasonable. I will leave Verizon if they don’t get the iPhone by January. I’ve waited long enough for it. I’ll deal with the phone calls but at least I will have the BEST phone, internet access, camera…and AT&T will only get better phone service as time passes!!!

plain and simple you need to decide whats more important having the iphone on a crappy network or being on a way better network with a crappy phone i would stick with Verizon they will get the iphone or something very similar from apple soon its only a matter of time ive heard the worst things about at&t even when u have all your bars you still sometimes cannot make calls they suck verizon is way better

My brother-in-law complained for years about how bad ATT’s network is and he has NEVER had ATT service! It’s amazing how everyone is an expert on ATT service when they’ve never had it. I have it, I’ve always had it, it works great, my phone is great and I have never had any issues with the service. I briefly had a Sprint phone and that I can say was a miserable experience. ATT has very good service, just limited coverage for 3G. I don’t travel much so it doesn’t matter and as long as you don’t travel to small rural areas, again, it’s a non issue.

I will be rid of Verizon as soon as my contract is up, i want the iPhone so bad!! Its a shame that verizon is that greedy!

Verizon is great if have loads of money to pay for their over priced services. AT&T is. Great if you don’t mind every third call being dropped. I personally took my iPhone to tmobile and now I have the best of both worlds good network coverage at an affordable price. The only downside is lack of 3g. But side by side comparisons with my wifes 3g my touch prove for web page loads their is no difference. In fact 2g iPhone was faster then 3g mytouch 8 of 10 times.

  7. matt says:

so ABA your paying 30 a month for unlimited data but you have limited 3g its funny how ppl will pay for anything ive had at&t before and they suck compared to verizon and at&t has a whole nation wide network is terrible when i was in LA i could barley make a phone call keep wasting your money its obvious you have never been with verizon

  8. matt says:

and it looks like the moto droid that is coming out looks pretty sweet it may not be an iphone but looks good enough to compete with it
