Julius Genachowski, from the FCC was recently speaking at a wireless conference, warning that the wireless industry is in need of more spectrum. While there, he also spoke about what his favorite iPhone apps are, wonder what they will be then.
It seems that the biggest threat to the cell phone industry is the spectrum shortage issue. While at CTIA, Genachowski said that wireless consumption would increase from six petabytes per month to 400 per month by 2013. Something needs to be done to try to increase the spectrum.
We know that the guy from FCC loves his iPhone; one app that he uses with his family is Star Walk. This allows you to gaze at the stars while you point your iPhone towards the sky. Genachowski said that it is very educational, as his daughter can now point out Pegasus.
The whole topic on the spectrum shortage is a complex one, so head over to arstechnica.com where they will explain it in more detail.
