T-Mobile Sidekick Outage Update: Full Month Data Credit

T-Mobile must understand the frustration that Sidekick users are feeling following an outage problem, which is why they will credit a full month of data usage for Sidekick users. This will be an automatic process, so no need for users to contact T-Mobile.

Phone News reports that this latest update from T-Mobile had been posted on its T-Mobile support forum. Jim Alling, Chief Operations Officer at T-Mobile USA published the memo announcing the credit as well as offering an apology for the outage problem, which you can read in full at Phone News.

T-Mobile knew that something was wrong when they started to receive a huge amount of complaints in a short amount of time, which we discussed in a recent post. Customers were able to make call and send texts, but were unable to use the data services.

Are you happy with the one-month free data service?

I would be happy if my phone would work. I can’t use the web, email, or even get into my contacts. This is day 6 of my phone being a worthless POS. No I am not happy.

  2. This company is the worst. I havent had my contacts for almost an entire week now. I call and call, but no one knows any information. The message when you call tell you theres an outage, and the date should be fixed today. well that was 3 days ago. WTF. when I get my contact im off of 2 mobile that will be 200 dollars well spent.

Wow I cant believe the experience with T-mobile. I use the internet on my phone as I sell things on ebay. I dont want to access the site during work on my work computer so I use my phone. I called T-mobile corp office letting them know I need a phone that had e-mail ability working. I spoke with a Vin Rozzie that was unsimpathetic and told me I was just looking for a new phone(even though I just bought the phone 2 months ago). He proceeded to say that per the t-mobile contract it states that service disruptions will occor. I could tell from his coldness he had had one too many sidekick calls. He suggested that I go out and buy a new phone that has the internet working. This is just one of the may issuess I have had with tmobile. They are the cheapest company out there but you get what you pay for and I have lurned me lesson the hard way.

I feel your pain, I also talked to an idiot that told me that under the contract it’s stipulated that outages may occur.
What I did i talmed to a supervisor named Mike (very nice gentleman)and I got him to send me a My Touch 3-G for $100.00, not bad considering the unit si $499.00.
      good luck to you…

My sidekick works good I couldn’t sign in so I used the last 4 digits of the IMSI in the system info under settings from the jump screen and I did that on sunday It keep loosin data for about an hour then it just started workin fine.

  5. Mike says:

T-mobile basically holds you hostage. They have all your data and won’t return it to you. Threatening to cancel is pointless because you’ll never get your data back. On top of that they threatened to charge me $200 per line for early termination. Terminiation from WHAT??!?!? A service that isn’t doing what I paid it to do? So we are sitting here hostage. Sitting on our hands with a phone that I can’t use because I don’t know who I’m calling.

  6. KAYA says:

i’m on the phone with them now
are you logged on the computer?
cause i can’t access my emails even on my computer
    yeah
    dayum
    ok handle it
it’s been like this since the issues started
and she was like maybe you’re not logging in right
our web page has nothing to do with the issue
    blah blah blah
so then she was like do you mind if i try from my end
    so i said GO AHEAD
and she can’t get in either
    LOL of course dumbass
they need to just come out and said I DON’T KNOW
and now shes going in circles trying to fig it out
instead of trying to make it see like its you or other things
and STILL trying to make it sound like it’s my computer not them
i would be like can you do me a favor and get verizon on the phone and set up a new plan for me
    or any other phone company
now i’m talking to her like shes a ******* idiot
as you should cause she is
    cause SHE IS
    mmmmmhmmm
    lol
” Oh Umm well lets see …. what did you say is your issue again?”
    IS SHE SERIOUS
    SHUT THE **** UP
    OMFG
    THIS *****
I JUST WENT CRAZY ON HER
SO THEN SHE SOUNDS LIKE SHES READING OFF A PAPER WITH HER TMOBILE MESSAGES AND I ASK HER …
SO BASICALLY WHAT YOU’RE SAYING IS THERES NOTHING YOU OR I CAN DO AND I JUST HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT FOR YOU GUYS TO GET YOUR **** TOGETHER FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO RECEIVE OR SEND AN EMAIL
    ?
tell her you want to speak to a manager…
you can’t log into your account at all right?
and she said it has nothing to do with the “known issue”
so she should be able to get you to atleast sign on from the computer
AND SHE CAME BACK WITH … ” IDK IF YOU GOT OUR TEXT MESSAGE BUT WE ARE CEDITING UR ACCOUNT…….”
I WAS LIKE WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE QUESTION I JUST ASKED YOU
    who gives a ****
    that doesn’t give you communication
CAN U FIX MY **** SO I CAN READ MY MAIL?
    NO!
credit the whole dayum bill and not just the ****** data service amount
OK THATS ALL YOU HAD TO SAY
THEN SHES LIKE WELL I’M SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE YOU HAVE A NICE DAY
SO I WAS LIKE UR MOTHER AND HUNG UP
    hahahahahahah
    you said your mother LMFAO
    4:10 PM
i guess the “DANGER” connection is CONNECTED to their email page and because “DANGER” is the one with the issue i can’t access my “desktop” from my Desktop
    i did
    she was DUMB
i hate having to talk to stupid people
    get to the ******* point
people are mad and annoyed right now
the last thing we want to do is hear more BS
i know…i wish there was something i could check to see how their sales have dropped
then she asks me if i was trying to access my tmail or YAHOO account
WHY WOULD I BE CALLING YOU IF I COULDN’T GET INTO MY YAHOO ACCOUNT??? I’D BE ON THE PHONE WITH YAHOO
    hahahahaha OMG
i hope you said that to her
    I DID
she was seriously trying to make it seem like it was MY fault
and that was AFTER she logged in and noticed she couldn’t get in either
    uh huh
i think they need to just discontinue the sidekicks and give everyone that has them new phones
if this is a “global” issue why can’t they just reset the entire sidekick system
    and start over
    they already deleted everyones ****
cause that would be too easy
debbie is p****d cause it deleted her pics, contacts and everything
it did that to me too
it took a few days for my **** to come back
but my pictures from my album device are gone
and i can’t LOG IN to see if they’re really gone
    yea some bullshit
the tmobile page shows up but when you go into anything INSIDE ur phone it says theres no page that can be found
read peoples comments on here http://www.product-reviews.net/2009/10/07/t-mobile-sidekick-outage-update-full-month-data-credit/

Im not too sure if this is a schizo, multiple people, or just an idiot, but ill just respond to the post as a whole. Did you ever think for a second, that not everything can be fixed with a button? Reset the entire Sidekick system? Please, do you realize why this is such a big problem? Because the ‘Sidekick’ system(or the Danger network, if you know what you’re talking about) is so big, and cant be fixed with a simple press of a button. And why do you people think T-Mobile would be keeping information from you? The reason the reps sound so bored, annoyed, and unsympathetic, is because you idiots spam the call centers with angry, rude, and probably just stupid questions. Dont you think they would want to tell us all the information they had about the outage, so that some of you would stop calling in? Granted, most of you would probably still call in with too specific questions, which could all be answered by one word: OUTAGE. One more thing, next time you decide to buy a phone because it looks cool, has a flip up screen, and is owned by Kim-fucking-Kardashian, at least learn a bit about the phone. Maybe then, you wouldve realized that the Sidekick isnt a regular phone, it has a network all of its own. If you really want to figure out whats going on, try calling Microsoft, the ones who are responsible.

  7. C-ko says:

This is pretty silly. I understand that this isn’t T-mobile’s fault directly, but as of now, it’s been nearly a week. I mean… what is Danger doing? I’d like to at least know WHAT happened that caused all of this, and I guess the data service credit is fine too….but it wasn’t just the data service I couldn’t use. I basically had an electronic paperweight for 4 days until things started coming back on. I was able to import my sim card contacts but that’s only 25% of the contacts I’d aquired over a few months. I still don’t have my contacts, my email or any of my bookmarks or calender events back.

I’m not mad at T-mobile for anything more than not telling us what they know, I’m mad at Danger for not taking more measures to have quicker turnaround when something like this happens.

Stop keeping your customers in the dark!

  8. tempted says:

Its been almost a week now..no contacts…no notes..no bookmarks…this is all bad…I really hope n pray my contacts come back @ least….smh..I cnt take this

  9. steve ewers says:

I emailed the Business Care Support as I have this phone on a corporate account. I asked for a full month credit because without my contacts this thing is just a brick to me.

I get an email back saying I need to send in my Sidekick for warranty service. The Business Care Specialist didn’t even know there was and outage! I was smoken mad and called up to read the email to the support people. I asked, “Don’t you people even know how much you have f#$*ked sidekick users up?

I didn’t get a full month but I did get an additional $50 credit.

  10. FireflyBebop says:

Just Spoke with a T-mo rep and was informed that yes Pre-paid will get the credit as well.
