No Verizon iPhone in 2010

No Verizon iPhone in 2010

By: Peter Chubb | October 7, 2009 | 7 Comments

The recent Verizon ad that we discussed yesterday was aimed at showing its users that they have a much better coverage than AT&T, something that iPhone users will not be happy about. It is no secret that AT&T customers are unhappy with poor network coverage and terrible customer services.

Verizon and its customers are preparing for Apple to allow them to supply the iPhone in 2010, but CIO.com reckons that we should not hold our breath. While speaking to Gartner analyst Phillip Redman, he believes that we will have to wait at least a couple more years. He said, “I don’t think Verizon will be getting an iPhone for a couple years.” He also added, “Apple would need to develop it on a different platform than it does today and would be expensive to build.”

AT&T exclusive deal with the Apple iPhone ends on June 10, 2010, iPhone customers hope that Apple will not extend the contract. We have to wonder why one of the best handsets in the world does not have the best network carriers.

Apple have started to end its exclusivity deals in other countries, the UK will now have a choice of not just O2 UK, but Orange and Vodafone as well. North American iPhone customers hope that Apple will do the same for them, but 2010 is not looking good at this time.

Apple Store Employees will tell you that they constantly are asked when will Verizon have an iPhone. I have Apple computers, iPod, Apple TV but no iPhone because I refuse to deal with AT&T. They service is horrible. On many vacations, friends with iPhones want to use my Verizon phone as they have no reception. Get with it iPhone!

I don’t think that Verizon has better coverage at all. My first cell phone company was Verizon years and years ago. I have to tell you that I dropped them because of horrible coveragr & customer service. I later tried Verizon again and it was the same situation, LOWSY coverage & customer service. I am 100% satisfied with AT&T and have never had any issues. I usually get coverage everywhere without a problem! Do your research Verizon is still using CDMA & not GSM so how could they possibly have better coverage. Also, if you decide to go to another country you will only be able to do this with 2 carriers; AT&T or T Mobile. You really can’t even begin to compare the 2.

Is that why in the last major survey in all 26 markets they didnt place 1st in 1 of them? The network superiority is not debatable. Period. It has been a proven fact, time after time… after time. ummm and GSM is OLDER, and less efficient than CDMA…. amazingly stupid reasoning … maybe when you go discover that GSM is not an advantage, you can go look up bandwidth, and you will discover more interesting facts..

I had AT&T when I lived in NY but when I moved to VT I got a letter from AT&T telling me they were canceling my contract and that I had to pay the early termination fee. After calling them every day for a week straight talking to one idiot after another I found out that they didn't own any of the sateliites near where I now lived so they were paying other companies to service me and they were losing money since I was under contract. After being with them for over 10 years I couldn't believe they were dropping me and fining me for being the victim. Finally I got one of the many managers I spoke to to waive the early termination fee. I will never go back to AT&T. I've loved Verizon ever since! Not one issue ever with them.

Thank you finally something i can read from someone who knows what they are talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously people no disrespect to anyway but please do some serious research on gsm and cdma and then state your comments with some knowledge behind them. When people just say they like a company better it means absolutely nothing more than that is your opinion. FACTS on the other hand point to verizon having superior coverage as well as they have had award wining customer service time and time again. I personaly could care less about any company but facts are facts. I will leave with one comment of my own though…when it comes to cell phones and which is the best that is based on opinion. There is a phone out there that i like better than the iphone but i wont mention which one caus its not important. But when it comes to cellular company none of them are perfect…but Verizon (sorry haters) at the moment is far superior…and there are facts to prove it. Just take some time out and research for yourself.

GSM is NEWER genious..CDMA is the olde SATCOM communication system using towers for reception. not that i favor one provider over another, but i do preffer GSM. Neither of this will matter when everyone is on LTE…
