No Verizon iPhone in 2010
By: Peter Chubb | October 7, 2009 | 7 CommentsThe recent Verizon ad that we discussed yesterday was aimed at showing its users that they have a much better coverage than AT&T, something that iPhone users will not be happy about. It is no secret that AT&T customers are unhappy with poor network coverage and terrible customer services.
Verizon and its customers are preparing for Apple to allow them to supply the iPhone in 2010, but CIO.com reckons that we should not hold our breath. While speaking to Gartner analyst Phillip Redman, he believes that we will have to wait at least a couple more years. He said, “I don’t think Verizon will be getting an iPhone for a couple years.” He also added, “Apple would need to develop it on a different platform than it does today and would be expensive to build.”
AT&T exclusive deal with the Apple iPhone ends on June 10, 2010, iPhone customers hope that Apple will not extend the contract. We have to wonder why one of the best handsets in the world does not have the best network carriers.
Apple have started to end its exclusivity deals in other countries, the UK will now have a choice of not just O2 UK, but Orange and Vodafone as well. North American iPhone customers hope that Apple will do the same for them, but 2010 is not looking good at this time.
