We knew that an announcement of the International Kindle release date was coming soon, and we have now had conformation of that. The e-reader will be available for international users on October 19 not only that, there is also to be a price cut for the US version.
Engadget have learned from Amazon that Kindle international will be available in 100 new countries, which will bring a huge range of new customers to the device. Amazon has also confirmed a new price for the U.S. version, the price for the (”Kindle U.S. Wireless”) is now $259 instead of $299. The price for the “Kindle U.S. & International Wireless” is $279, giving it a $20 premium over the standard device.
Engadget explains that the extra $20 is to cover the cost of roaming charges when you download content in another country. However, be warned that as it will be with AT&T, do not expect great coverage while overseas. When you do travel abroad, you are able to download book wirelessly for a fee of $1.99 from the Kindle Store.
