BlackBerry Storm 2: Messenger 5.0 software available on launch

Word has it that RIM are preparing to release their official build of BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 today for Verizon Wireless. Its good news for all of you looking to pick up the BlackBerry Storm 2, as the software should be built-in on launch.

As mentioned in our earlier post here, BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 will bring various new features to the table, most notably enhanced SMS, avatars, bar code and identity features and improved contact backup and restore.

Over at BGR, they have stated that everyone running OS 4.5 or above will be eligible for the upgrade, but you can bet that the new software will be available on the upcoming Storm 2.
