T-Mobile Data Outage 2009: Update on Sidekick problem
By: Alan Ng | October 6, 2009 | 41 CommentsYesterday we reported to you about the huge T-Mobile data outage that most of you with a Sidekick handset had been experiencing. We have some more information to give you now, including an update from Microsoft – who are responsible for the Danger servers that went down.
Firstly, thanks for all of the feedback we got from you regarding the situation. We received over fifty comments from you, telling us about your problems, with the general conclusion that all data services were down apart from making calls and receiving texts.
We have picked up an official statement regarding the issue from Microsoft, courtesy of SeattlePi. Microsoft have acknowledged all the problems, stating that e-mail service and back-up of user data will be restored today.
However, they have also stated that ”data rich services such as new purchases from the Catalog, may take longer to enable.”
Well, it has been quite a while since that statement was issued, so how are things looking for you now? We have also read numerous reports that T-Mobile are offering affected customers various ‘incentives’ to lighten the mood, but we feel you would rather have the service back and running asap.
Let us know what the current status is with your handsets.
