Windows 7: Financial Savings

Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer has recently visited London promoting the upcoming launch of Microsoft Windows 7, rather than looking into the features included within Windows 7 he instead promoted how businesses will save money by rolling out Windows 7.

With the recent credit crunch many people are looking at ways to save money in all areas, according to Ballmer if businesses roll out Windows 7 they will save up to £100 per PC per year, this is due to the Operating System’s energy efficiency and it also requiring less help desk support and also less administration costs.

Steve Ballmer was also quoted as saying “About five years ago, when we launched Windows Server [2003], we ran an ad campaign that said ‘do more with less’. If we were to run that campaign again, we’d have to say ‘with less, do more’,” he quipped.

One major UK company backing Windows 7 is BT (British Telecom), with company’s as large as BT deciding to roll out the OS early it seems likely that smaller companies will do the same, for more information check out PCPro.
