Uncharted 2: Hands-on Review
Filed under: Gaming, Sony Playstation 3

One of the most highly anticipated game released of the year is for the PS3 only game “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves”, the game itself will hope to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor “Uncharted: Drakes Fortune”.
Cnet have recently posted a hands-on review of the game which will be released in the US on October 13th, Cnet have had the game all weekend to put the game through its paces and to see if all of the anticipation has been justified.
This game is said to be quite heavily influenced by games such as Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, according to the reviewers the game is “tremendous fun, and the interactive equivalent of a big, over-the-top summer movie”, that said the impression I get is the game still falls short in some areas.
The storyline is said to be pretty poor and the concept of the game is not exactly unique, however that said if want to get the most out of your full 1080p HDTV this is the game for you, the graphics are said to be up there with the best console games, check out Cnet’s article for more information.
Have you pre-ordered Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves? What are you looking forward to the most?

Interesting, I wonder which reviews you’re reading because I’ve only read 1 review (from CNET, which tends to try to bash all over Sony as much as possible anyway, so grain of salt that one). The rest have given the game incredibly high marks, not to mention that it’s current metareview score is in the 97 percentile area according to metacritic (out of 29 total reviews), and in the 96 percentile on Gamesrankings (out of a total 13 reviews). Sounds to me like maybe you should play the game yourself and then judge, rather than using the 1st negative review you can find. Which also just happens to be from a site that’s shown it’s quite biased in the past.
“if want to get the most out of your full 1080p HDTV this is the game for you”
The CNET review doesn’t once mention that the game is 1080p.
Yeah, CNET does tend to be somewhat anti Sony. Still the reviewer awards %96. I mean, thats pretty good right. After reading the review, I was surprised to see a score that high. Anyway, i’m in, loved the first game. This is a definite buy.
“The CNET review doesn’t once mention that the game is 1080p”
Because its 720p. Not like thats a bad thing, thats still 720 lines of pure goodness.
I care. The developers have been boasting about it being the best looking game ever and something they couldn’t achieve on any other console (Sony clause propaganda in their contract no doubt), yet it’s still on 720p. On my TV the difference is noticeable and disappointing because when the PS3 does so 1080p, on that rare occasion, it’s stunning.\
Again “if want to get the most out of your full 1080p HDTV this is the game for you” is a false statement and lazy journalism.
@ Waldo – Sadly, Product Reviews is like the bastard step-child of CNET, in it’s Sony Lynch mob mentality. Alan Ng, being another major contributor to the constant vitriol of hate that’s regurgitated constantly by several news outlets. Literally, compare the score this review gave, with what was said about it in the article. You come away feeling it’s an 80-85 game, not a 96. And that’s what bottom feeders like Product Reviews and CNET try to do.
Fortunately, places like Gamescores, and Metacritic exist, are easily linked, and can show potential buyers a much more balanced view of the games qualities.
