We only have one day to go before the start of CEATEC Japan 2009 and it seems that Toshiba wishes to get a head start by announcing the new Cell-powered CELL REGZ LCD TV. The new TV will be officially released sometime in December.
The CELL REGZ LCD TV comes with a massive 55-inch display, which runs at 240Hz, if you thought that was impressive, then the 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio will certainly blow your mind. Engadget has been looking at the rest of the features in detail, and have to say, we were amazed.
Toshiba have not worked on just the quality of the picture, sound is also an important factor, which is where the 7-speaker sound bar comes in. The Cell-powered CELL REGZ LCD TV even has a 3TB hard disk drive; 2TB is used for “time-shift” recording.
Hope you have some deep pockets thought, costing 1,000,000 yen (US $11,140). Toshiba hopes to sell around 1,000 units per month.

A 5 mill to 1 contrast ratio, and 2TB for timeshift recording - well… I guess I will just have to wait for the price to come down a little (more than a little!). This really is something though. Toshiba, you’ve got to love ‘em.
