We have some interesting information to give you now, regarding the ‘much debated’ price point for Infinity Ward’s upcoming FPS Modern Warfare 2. Activision UK managing director Andrew Brown has spoken out recently on the matter, defending the games rather high £55 retail price.
As reported from Strategy Informer, Brown feels that many gamers will be getting a good deal for their money, in relation to the amount of content that will be included with the game come November 10th.
One particular quote from Andrew Brown sticks out for us which states: “This is an industry where things cost a lot to develop and it’s a risky business.”
We’re not sure about you, but we think that quote is a bit dodgy. Going on Mr Brown’s theory above, then why didn’t Call of Duty 4 cost more for fans? And saying ‘its a risky business’ has us miffed too.
We want your thoughts on this. £5 extra on retail due to the games industry being a ‘risky business’? Surely not.

Everything in the last two years has gone up in price. A little extra cost is well worth it for a good quality game. MW2 will rock you…..
To be honest given the amount I will play the game I will not moan over £5 extra, but that said the amount they will make from being probably the biggest game of the year + map packs and additional merchandise I think they are just cashing in….
However I would prefer to pay £55 for a game that won’t come out of my console rather than spend £50 on a game which i will play for a couple of days maximum.
I can’t believe that games are so expensive over there across the pond! games are 60 dollars here, i can’t believe that they would charge 75 to 80 dollars for the same game there!
oh wait… the VAT and all that stuff that is in the EU countries.
Well, regardless. when you visit us state side, buy a crap full of games!
like 35 to 40 pounds per game!
