It has been revealed that Apple are due to start legal proceedings against Australian supermarket chain Woolworths, claiming that their latest logo design is ‘too similar’ to the famous Apple logo.
As reported from Apple Insider, Woolworths said back in 2008 that they were planning to revamp their design, and the image you can see above is the new look.
Sure it looks ‘a bit’ like Apple’s iconic design, but considering that they are a supermarket chain, is this really necessary? Well, the obvious question is ‘yes’ as you are probably well aware that Apple defends cases like this right down to the bone.
Let us know your thoughts on this story. Do you think Apple are being incredibly harsh on Woolworths?

Let’s be reasonable here. There’s exactly one thing this logo has in common with the Apple logo, and it’s the fact that it represents an apple.
From a graphic point of view, this logo looks absolutely nothing like the famous Apple logo. It has a very different design and it seems pretty obvious to me Woolworths’ logo was not inspired from the Apple one, especially given that it’s a supermarket chain which has everything to do with actual apples and nothing to do with the products Apple commercialises. So yes, Apple is indeed being way too harsh on them.
