Verizon Wireless iPhone Deal: Analysts to Apple
By: Peter Chubb | October 3, 2009 | 38 CommentsThe U.S. and the rest of the world are still in a recession so there is less money to go around, but that has not stopped consumer’s obsession with having the latest cell phone. It is no secret that the handset to have is the Apple iPhone, and if you thought that the king of the Smartphones was popular now, you wait until Apple finally lifts the exclusivity deal that it has with AT&T and allows Verizon Wireless to shift the units as well.
PC World reports that a Morgan Stanley analyst has been looking more closely at a Verizon Wireless iPhone deal, and thought that she would offer his own predictions. In a published report, it states that if Apple added Verizon in on the iPhone deal, then Apple’s shares would jump up from 4.9 percent up to 12.2 percent.
Kathryn Huberty is the analyst who has come up with these bold claims, she just wanted to make her case about how great the potential of an Verizon iPhone deal would be, not just for Apple and Verizon, but also for American cell phone users.
Huberty stated that when Orange had lost its iPhone exclusive deal with Apple in France, the iPhone’s market share rose by a massive 136 percent. If these finding are correct, then the same could happen in the U.S. and will shortly happen in the UK, as O2 have also lost its exclusivity deal with the iPhone.
